Hasland CFC U18s - Matlock Trojan
Under 15s
I think I have just about dried off as I start to write this match report after what has been a very wet morning at Cavendish Playing Fields. Our under 15s haven't been in action for the past two weekends due to cancellations so a trip to Matlock to face the Trojans was a welcome thought.
Having played and beaten the trojans only three weeks ago we knew what to expect and how we needed to start well to stop them getting a foothold in the game. Hasland pressed right from the first whistle and forced a corner inside the opening minute which was expertly delivered onto the foot of captain Evan who finished with ease. 2 minutes on the clock and Hasland had the lead 0-1⚽️
The game then settled and to be fair to the Trojans it was them who grew into the game this time and on occasions had the Hasland defense facing their own goal. The highlights being a shot that came back off the bar and a couple of decent saves from Hasland keeper Ben. Hasland always looked threatening though despite not creating many clear cut chances. However with just a minute to go before the half time whistle centre midfield Jacob went on the charge and scored a cracker after leaving 3 or 4 Matlock players in his wake as he brushed past them with ease 0-2⚽️
Half time team talk was positive and we just asked them to make the pass a little quicker and play more possession based football while stressing the importance of the next goal. The second half couldn't have start much better when on 44 minutes Alfie controlled the ball direct from a Matlock goal kick, took a couple of touches before hitting one from 25 yards over the keeper for 0-3⚽️
Just one minute after the restart Max then played a great between full back and centre back to Striker Jack who timed his run to perfection and finished with ease 0-4⚽️
Matlock got one back just 4 minutes later which brought our run of clean sheets to an end however defending was very difficult on a what was by now a very muddy pitch. Hasland continued to try to play and create chances but in fairness by this point the pitch was winning and not the football.
Final Score Matlock 1- 4 Hasland CFC
Today's man of the match went to our captain and centre back Evan who not only opened the scoring but played a masterclass at the centre of defence and hardly gave the Matlock striker a sniff all game. Well done Evan👏👏👏
Next week we travel to Sleetmoor to try to maintain our 100% start to the season. Great Job Hasland under 15s.
